Aurora, North Carolina

Aurora is a small town in Beaufort county, located on the far eastern side of North Carolina. The population constitutes of roughly five hundred and fifty citizens. The town takes up only one square mile of land just underneath the Pamlico River.

Aurora is home to a large phosphate mine, that is a large attraction for many paleontologists and tourist looking to collect some fossils. In may of aurora holds and annual fossil festival.

Beaufort county, boosts a high dental screening rate of 93% for all children in the fifth grade and younger. That is high compared to the state average at 74%. Although the the percentage of permanent tooth decay is at 4% which is up from the state average of 3%.
